WHY WE BUILT THIS POR QUÉ LO CREAMOS
512.gay was created because our community deserved better. Events scattered across Instagram stories. Organizations buried in Facebook groups. Resources shared through word of mouth. We wanted to build one space — a home base — where Austin's LGBTQ+ community can find everything in one place. 512.gay nació porque nuestra comunidad merecía algo mejor. Eventos dispersos en historias de Instagram. Organizaciones enterradas en grupos de Facebook. Recursos compartidos de boca en boca. Quisimos construir un solo espacio — una base de operaciones — donde la comunidad LGBTQ+ de Austin pueda encontrar todo en un solo lugar.
Austin has always been a queer city at heart. From Sixth Street to South Congress, from the Hill Country to Cedar Park — our people are everywhere. In a time when access to accurate, affirming information matters more than ever, we believe our community deserves a dedicated space. One that is by us, for us and built to keep us connected, informed and visible. Austin siempre ha sido una ciudad queer en el alma. Desde Sixth Street hasta South Congress, desde la Hill Country hasta Cedar Park — nuestra gente está en todas partes. The mission across all four sites: build the connective tissue that keeps Texas's queer community informed, visible and vibrant — no matter what the Legislature throws at us.
